A NEW Milton private school hit a high note when they ventured into the world of festive music-making.

Fernhill Manor – a school with a proud musical reputation – aimed for the skies when they hired out Tregonwell Hall at Bournemouth International centre on December 11, 1989.

All their Christmasses came true when their seasonal concert pulled in a 900-strong audience of parents, friends and other music lovers.

The crowds were treated to what the school secretary described at the time as "a wonderful, magical evening".

"It was the first time we had really gone public with something like this and it was a great success," she said.

The school's junior and senior choirs performed with many of the professional musicians who taught instruments and singing at the school.
