A CACOPHONY of blood-curdling noises filled the air in Bournemouth Winter Gardens. But wasn’t the music being played there - it was the shrills and shrieks of witches and ghouls.
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra held a fancy-dress concert on November 18, 1989, and the theme was “Things that go Bump in the Night”.
Young concertgoers had been asked, not only to bring an instrument so they could join in with the professionals, but also to wear scary clobber.
Many did and the best was rewarded with tickets for future concerts as prizes.
Everyone got a chance to go onto the platform to join the orchestra in a party piece, for which they were given the music as they entered the hall.
