A CHRISTCHURCH pensioner charged with causing the death of a 90-year-old pedestrian by careless driving has elected for his case to be heard by a crown court judge.
Charles Clark, 77 and of Bure Haven Drive, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court last week.
He has not yet entered a plea to the charge against him. However, he has opted to have the case heard at Bournemouth Crown Court.
As a result, he will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the court in late November.
Police were called to reports of a collision involving a Green Mazda 2 and a pedestrian in Stour Road, Christchurch just after 6.50pm on Wednesday, March 6.
Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene and the road was closed until 12.45am the following day.
However, the pedestrian, Raymond Warwick, died of his injuries in hospital on Sunday, March 16.
