A NEW Forest dairy has closed a popular raw milk vending machine after the Food Standards Agency took seven weeks to investigate claims of a food poisoning.
New Forest Raw Milk at Sarah's Dairy in Milford sold unpasteurised milk. However, last week, the owners of Hordle Farm, where the diary was based, announced on Facebook that they would no longer be selling the raw milk.
In a Facebook post, owner Sarah Cobb said that the farm had “never recovered” from claims a family had suffered food poisoning.
The Food Standards Agency took almost two months to probe the claims. During the course of the investigation, the dairy was banned from selling the milk after it was identified as a possible source of Campylobacter.
Tests came back clear, the dairy says. Sarah and husband Matthew also paid for an independent test, which came back negative for the bacteria.
Although the dairy was officially allowed to start selling milk again in the summer, the couple have now taken the "difficult" decision to close the vending machine altogether.
