A FAMILY-owned holiday business based in Dorset has raised over £750 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Shorefield Holidays staged its own Bake Off-style coffee morning across two of its holiday parks to raise money for cancer charity.

The events at Shorefield Country Park and Oakdene Forest Park were part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and raised £760.47 for the charity, which provides emotional, medical, practical and financial support for cancer patients and their families, as well as campaigning for better cancer care.

Simon Pollock, Chairman and Managing Director at Shorefield Holidays, says: “We are extremely proud to have played our part in supporting Macmillan with our coffee mornings.

“The charity provides such incredible and much-needed support to people with cancer and their families and we’re pleased that our mammoth cake baking was able to do its bit to help. We had a fantastic turnout of tasty treats from our extremely talented teams – who knew we had such talented bakers amongst us!”

Juliet Dowrick, Digital Marketer at Shorefield Country Park, received the title of Best Baker on the day, while the Accounts Department won Best Department for its outstanding team effort. Harry Wells, Junior Graphic Designer & Marketer, and Katie Ward, Entertainment Manager, both received recognition for ‘Best Faker’ and ‘I Taste Better Than I Look’ respectively.

Meanwhile at Oakdene Forest Park, Dan Quick created a star bake worthy of a handshake, featuring the park’s newest mascot Woof the Dog. The impressive showstopper alone brought in a tasty £124 towards the grand total raised.

The Macmillan Biggest Coffee Morning is a national fundraising affair held on or close to the 27th September. So far, the coffee mornings have raised £9,269,876.
