A POPULAR restaurant in Boscombe has been put up for sale on Gumtree.

The Social Grill on Sea Road is looking for new ownership but, due to the high prices of adverts, the current owner has been forced to advertise the business on the advertisement and community website.

The business, which has been open since 2016, is on the market for £50,000. The price includes a flat above the cafe and large kitchen and dry store area.

Owner Janusz Gorski said: “It’s cheaper on their than other sites.

"Most websites ask for £200 or £300, while Gumtree only asks for £15.

“Selling a business can be a bit of a pain, especially when you don’t have much money, so sometimes it is better to put on places such as Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace.”

Janusz, who has worked in hospitality for 16 years, studied for a masters in film production while working as a head chef at a previous restaurant.

He said that although he has enjoyed his time in hospitality, he is set on a change of career.

“I didn’t want to spend hundreds of pounds on adverts because I am trying to save money for the next chapter of my life,” Janusz said.

“I am looking to get into film production or something more along those lines and hopefully it will bring a better work-life balance

“Working in hospitality, I struggled to find time for myself and my interests.

“I do enjoy hospitality and it is a good plan B for me, but having spent so long in it, I want to pursue my real interest.

“I’m still passionate about cooking and hospitality, but now that I have spent a long time in the business, I want to try something new.

“We tried to expand the business by refurnishing upstairs and making it into another restaurant space and bar, which could then be used for private functions and meetings.

"However, local shop owners said my plans would bring more antisocial behaviour to the area.”
