1. THE first-ever Bournemouth Coastal Comic Con will take place this weekend. The family-friendly event, which aims to celebrate pop culture, will take place at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bath Road on Saturday, September 28 between 10am and 11.30pm. Visitors can expect to meet familiar faces, including Christopher Ryan of Doctor Who and The Young Ones, Hugo Myatt from Nightmares and Clem So, who has appeared in a number of Marvel films.

3. THE Sobo Eco Fayre takes place on Sunday at Fisherman’s Walk, Southbourne from 11am until 4pm. The aim is to promote sustainability in Southbourne and the surrounding area and celebrate local community groups and businesses. There will be a mixture of stalls, businesses, charities as well as information and demonstrations on how to make small changes to live more sustainably, along with art, food and music.

4. EUROPE’S official 1980’s multi-tribute concert at Bournemouth Pavilion on Saturday will recreate 28 chart topping pop icons with live bands and dancers paying homage to Duran Duran, The Human League, Kim Wilde, Culture Club, Madonna, Wham!, Toni Basil, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bananarama, Dead or Alive and Madness.

5. THIS weekend is your last chance to have an island adventure this summer with a camp over on Brownsea. Bring your own tents or tents are available for hire. 6. BOURNEMOUTH and Poole’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride will be taking part on Sunday when hundreds of riders will be donning their cravats, polishing their classic and vintage motorcycles before setting off from Poole Quay and Pier Approach at 10am on Sunday as part of a worldwide initiative in over 650 cities to put the spotlight on men’s health.

7. FOR a second year, the Motors by the Sea festival returns to Boscombe on Saturday and Sunday, to showcase an array of special vehicles from the past and present day and provide a preview of future motoring. The event will give local motoring fans a platform from which to display their vehicles, for mechanics and auto shops to demonstrate their talents and for automotive enthusiasts to network and gain knowledge from dealers, collectors and industry experts alike.

8. CALLING all vintage bargain hunters! The UK’s first and largest vintage kilo sale returns to Bournemouth on Saturday at the Citygate Church in Holdenhurst Road from 10am to 4pm. The Vintage Clothing Kilo Sale brings six tonnes of stock of vintage, retro and branded items from the 1970s and early 00s. Just roll up your sleeves and rummage through the selection. There is no minimum spend, so if it’s just one light item you want, expect to pay as little as 50p!
