LEGAL action has started to deal with an unauthorised encampment of travellers in Poole.

There are a total of nine caravans at the recreation ground in Blandford Close in Hamworthy.

A spokesman for BCP Council said: "The council and the police are aware of the unauthorised encampment and assessments of the encampment have been carried out.

"The unauthorised encampment is being visited/monitored by the council.

"Legal process to gain repossession of the land is under way. The site consists of nine caravans. Toilets will be provided to minimise the environmental impact on the site."
