A VOLUNTEER plunged into the sea two miles from the entrance of Poole Harbour on Saturday after a yacht became entangled in fishing gear.
Poole's RNLI lifeboat was launched after a call from the coastguard at 12.50pm. The 36-foot yacht, which had one person on board, was stuck fast some distance from the harbour.
A spokesperson from the team said the yacht was "snared".
"A crewman went in the water with the lifeboat alongside attempting to untangle the yacht from the fishing gear. The lifeboat eventually eased the vessel free," the spokesperson said.
"It appeared that nothing untoward had happened to the vessel, so the yachtsman was happy to continue on his way."
