A MAN has died after his vessel capsized at Mudeford Quay yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the beauty spot after receiving a Mayday call reporting a man in the water at around 3.30pm.
Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Team was sent, along with the Mudeford RNLI lifeboat, paramedics, police officers and the air ambulance.
The man was taken ashore and treated by ambulance crews.
However, police confirmed he has since died.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said officers were initially alerted to fears for a man in the water after coastguard crews arrived at the scene.
“Emergency services attended.
“Very sadly the man, who was aged in his 50s, was later pronounced dead at hospital,” the spokesperson said.
“An investigation is under way into the man’s death.
“His family has been informed and the coroner has been notified.”
