A MAN has denied committing grievous bodily harm hours after England beat Sweden in the quarter-finals of the football World Cup.
Haydan Clarke appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Friday accused of committing the offence in the car park of The Dorset Soldier in Corfe Mullen on Saturday, July 7 last year.
The complainant, Alex Vivian, suffered a fractured skull following an alleged assault at 10pm.
Prosecutor David Finney said Mr Vivian hit his head on a parked car and the ground following the reported assault. The pub had hosted two screenings World Cup matches that day.
Clarke, 27 and of Wyatts Lane in Corfe Mullen, pleaded not guilty to committing grievous bodily harm without intent. He will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court in September.
