PADDLE boards and two canoes belonging to Sandleheath Sea Scouts have been stolen.

The items were taken during a burglary at Spinnaker Sailing Club in Ivy Lane, Ringwood.

Police say it took place sometime between 5pm on Friday, July 26 and 10am on Sunday, July 28 and that entry was forced into three sheds.

Mark Davison, who is on the executive committee of 1st Sandleheath Sea Scouts, said the theft is "hugely frustrating", adding: "We are really just hopeful that someone, somewhere will have seen something.

"Somebody would have noticed a couple of canoes on a car or a van being moved. We are appealing to anybody that might have some CCTV and saw it."

He also urged people to keep an eye out for similar items being sold on selling sites, which could help locate the equipment and get it back.

The canoes have Sandleheath Sea Scouts written in permanent marker inside and they have a square sticker at the front of the canoe.

Mark says that the equipment stolen will be missed by members of the Sea Scouts as they are the "most popular" items they use.

It was initially thought that it would cost around £3,000 to replace the equipment and repair the storage sheds but Mark said it could cost around £5,000.

"It just means we will have to spend a lot of time fundraising towards putting back what we had," added Mark.
