A TEENAGER found dead in rural Wimborne last week has been named at the opening of an inquest into his death.

Daniel Jordan King, who was 17, died in the grounds of the former East Dorset District Council officers in Furzehill on Wednesday, July 17.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at the coroner's court in Bournemouth Town Hall on Thursday.

Brendan Allen, assistant coroner for Dorset, said Daniel lived in Furzehill. His mum contacted police when she was unable to find him, it was heard.

Members of his family, as well as family friends, launched a search in the area. Daniel was found "unresponsive" at around 11.20am.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of his death as hanging. There are no suspicious circumstances.

A full inquest is due to take place in January 2020.

Daniel is understood to be a former pupil of Queen Elizabeth's School in Wimborne.

A spokesperson for the school declined to comment.
