THE driver of a lorry which shed a load of hay bales onto the busy A35 Upton Bypass has been fined.

Police shut a lane in the Poole direction following concerns the hay bales would cause an obstruction in the road.

The lane was closed approximately 600m from the Bakers Arms roundabout, a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

Officers were called to the scene at 3pm.

The lorry driver was fined £400 and given three penalty points.

The lorry was recovered and taken to Poole port.

The hay was cleared from the carriageway and the road re-opened at around 4pm.
