PROPOSALS to run an independent school in Christchurch for children with social and emotional needs which prevent them from accessing mainstream education have been approved by council planners.

An application to vary the condition for the premises in Dudmoor Farm Road was approved by a BCP Council planning officer.

A previous approved scheme restricted the use of areas of the building to a pre-school or nursery.

However, permission has now been given to operate a school at the site.

The application from Dan Vincent says the school will teach up to 25 children aged between seven and 14 years of age.

"We will be transporting the majority of the children to and from the site via a mini bus as to reduce the impact of traffic through the site", the application says.
