A Bugsy Malone invasion of Winton took place in June 1979. The scouts from the 30th Bournemouth Sea Scout group joined the sea scout band and other fancy dressers on a parade from Leslie Road through Winton to the scouts summer fayre at St John's Church in Vicarage Road, Moordown.
