A CHARITY's chief executive has taken on the ultimate challenge to raise money for children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset.

Mark Powell heads up disability charity Diverse Abilities, and was joined by his friend Rob Packham to walk 100km (62 miles) non-stop along the Jurassic Coast.

As part of the challenge the duo started walking from Poole Harbour on to Corfe Castle, through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door with many ups and downs all the way to Weymouth. Then it was past Portland Bill, nature reserves and onto the western end of Chesil Beach to West Bay, before finishing in Bridport.

Mark said: “Rob and I took part in the Dorset 3 Peaks last year, a bespoke 30-mile trekking event organised by Diverse Abilities. This year we wanted to double the distance and challenge ourselves even further, so we signed up to this ultimate challenge of trekking the Jurassic Coast non-stop in 24 hours.

“I see the vital care Diverse Abilities provides to children, adults and their families day in day out. We want to provide this care to even more families in Dorset so raising funds by challenging myself is a great way to support the fantastic charity that I work for.”

Rob and Mark are looking to raise £1,000 as part of their ultimate challenge.
