STREET Barbers and Tattoo Shop in Bournemouth handed out free haircuts to those living on the street and in sheltered accommodation, with the help of charity Second Chances.

Shelley Morris, a support worker at the charity, said: “We were contacted by Mark and Kai from Street Barbers and Tattoo Shop as they wanted us to help them run an event. We had a lot of people show up, including some of our regular customers who live on the streets and are in supported accommodation like Michael House. The reason we ran the event is because it’s therapeutic. It gives people the chance to have a break and relax in a safe environment.” Due to its popularity, the charity will be running another event in the next six to eight weeks.

Shelley continues; “This event was very popular, even though we didn’t really advertise it that much. We are always looking for businesses to help us provide food and other stuff for our clients.”

Second Chances will be hosting a women’s only hairdresser and pampering event in the next few weeks, in collaboration with one of their longstanding partners Lush.

“Our lovely friends over at Lush have been great to us by providing support and help with so many things and we’re looking forward to our next event with them”, Shelley said.
