A GIANT waterslide on Bournemouth's Richmond Hill has been cancelled today due to high winds.

Organisers of the Slide Bournemouth event said they had been forced to make the decision in the interests of people's safety.

People who had tickets to go on the 120m inflatable slide today are being offered a session tomorrow instead. Anyone who is unable to attend tomorrow is asked to get in touch with the organisers for a full refund. "We are really sorry to say this, but unfortunately due to high winds we are unable to open any sessions today, as the safety of everyone who visits us has to be our priority," Slide Bournemouth said in a post on its Facebook page. "The weather is looking much better for tomorrow and we will be putting on two additional sessions to accommodate any Slide ticketholders from today.

"The two new sessions tomorrow will be at 9am and 4.30pm, and we have limited availability in all of our other sessions."

Ticketholders are being asked to email hello@slidebournemouth.co.uk or message @slidebournemouth on Facebook to transfer to tomorrow or to claim a refund.

"Again we have to apologise, we have had to take this decision with a heavy heart," the organisers added.

Poor weather last year led to the cancellation of Slide Bournemouth on one of the days it was due to be open.
