The two victims were in the Square at around 8pm on Tuesday, March 5, when they were approached by two other men who were among a group of seven people on bicycles.
One of the victims – a local 19-year-old man – was kicked and punched in the face and left unconscious. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
While she second victim, an 18-year-old man from Poole, was verbally threatened.
Police said a quantity of cash was stolen from both men.
Detective Constable Andy Hale, of Bournemouth CID, said: “As part of my enquiries I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of one of the suspects. While I appreciate the image is not very clear, it is the best we have and I hope that someone may recognise this man.
“I would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward.”
