A WORLD-renowned artist is to unveil an original piece of art celebrating Bournemouth and Poole.

Icelandic-born contemporary artist Kristjana S Williams has created a work inspired by the towns, which will be on display at an exhibition at Bournemouth's Westover Gallery from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday, May 9.

Kristjana’s illustrated collages combine wildlife, fauna and local landmarks, with previous works featuring Japan, Mexico and London.

Her recent artwork references many elements of Dorset, including Brownsea Island, Mary Shelley and the Jurassic Coast. Both the original work and limited edition prints will be available to purchase on the day.

Kristjana’s work has been exhibited all over the world, including Los Angeles, Singapore and New York. In 2018 she was commissioned to design an artwork for Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

Last year saw another high-profile collaboration when she was commissioned to design Coldplay’s live album, A Head Full of Dreams: Live in Buenos Aires. A stunning mixed media creation, it featured whimsical reimagined animals intrinsic to her style.
