A 61-year-old man is fighting for life following a crash involving a quad bike.

Police were called to the crash on an unclassified road between the A31 and the A354, near Winterborne Kingston, at 12.47pm on Monday.

The local man was travelling toward Blandford when he came off the quad bike and landed in the road.

He sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police said the man's next of kin has been informed.

The road remains closed while collision investigators examine the scene.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway in a bid to establish the circumstances of this collision. I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact Dorset Police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time and has dashcam footage as this may be very useful for my investigation.”
