1 THE BEAF returns from this weekend! The Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe Festival, described as the town's largest independent art festival, will see a series of events take place over nine days between Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 12. On Saturday in Boscombe's Sovereign Centre and Royal Arcade, there will be an Exhibition Preview Trail where visitors will have the chance to meet artists behind the festival's art exhibitions and installations. There will be family-friendly bubble workshops, interactive sound healing performances, art made from rejected and recycled substances as well as live skating and dance performances.

While at the Russell-Cotes on the same day, a free drawing workshop for adults and children over the age of 14 takes place between 2.30pm and 4.30pm with participants focusing on drawing trees. Visitors will also be able to see work by artist Susan Cunningham in the museum's tropical garden between 10am and 5pm. Susan will be drawing and painting trees and referencing the art of artist JD Harding, who wrote On Drawing Trees and Nature. On Sunday, Boscombe's Shelley Theatre plays host to the BEAF Film Festival from 2.30pm. It will feature a series of short films from the hottest filmmaking talent in Bournemouth and beyond. Then on bank holiday Monday, the BEAF Street Festival takes over Boscombe precinct between 12pm and 4pm. There will be live music throughout the day, pianos to play on, live art installations and performances and a life-size grass sculpture roaming the streets.

2 JOIN Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and friends when In the Night Garden Live comes to Poole’s Lighthouse this weekend as part of their first ever UK theatre tour. Families will have the chance to see all their favourite characters brought to life with full-size costumes, magical puppets and enchanting music. There are two performances on Saturday with another two taking place on Sunday.

3 POPULAR Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell brings his new show to Bournemouth tomorrow night. Daniel kicks off his spring tour at the BIC tonight with special guest Mary Duff.

4 RUSSELL Kane comes is appearing at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre tomorrow. The comedian and TV presenter’s latest show is called The Fast and the Curious which will “will motor through love, family and life.”

5 CALLING all David Bowie fans! Tribute act Bowie Experience visits the Regent Centre on Saturday. Bowie Experience has been described as a “must see for all Bowie fans” and will feature favourite songs such as Space Oddity, Fashion, Starman, Life on Mars, China Girl, Rebel Rebel and Let’s Dance.

6 WORLD-famous basketball team, Harlem Globetrotters, will be wowing the crowds with their "ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment" at the BIC on Saturday. The spectacular show is part of their world tour.

7 DISCOVER local crafters at the South Coast Makers Market on Monday. The free event takes place at Boscombe's Corpus Christi Centre between 10.30am and 3.30pm. There will be stalls from around 25 traders selling everything from jewellery to surf boards, plus there will be coffee, craft beer and wood-fired pizza on sale and crafting for children.

8 A FREE outdoor yoga session is being held on the back lawn of Upton House on Sunday morning between 9.30am and 10.30am. The session is suitable for all ages and abilities, including children.

9 POOLE'S Scaplen's Court will be opening its garden to the public for the summer season from Sunday. The garden will be open from 1pm to 4pm until September 30.
