SAXONS and Vikings are set to clash once again at historic Corfe Castle next month.

The popular Siege of Wareham event takes place on all three days of the first May bank holiday between 10am and 4pm.

Visitors will be taken back to the year 876AD when terror stalks the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex following a five-year truce between the Vikings and King Alfred.

People will get to witness authentic battle re-enactments, join the ranks as a young warrior and stroll through the Saxon living history display.

The village will open at 10am with the Viking raid taking place at 11am. Young warriors will be able to join King Alfred’s army for training in the main arena at 12.30pm followed by mustering the Saxon, Brythonic and Viking armies for battle at 2.45pm.

The event is free but normal admission fees apply.
