SIX people were rescued by coastguard teams in the Purbeck area on Saturday.

Lulworth Coastguard were called to Durdle Door in the afternoon to help paramedics after a person fell on a loose pathway.

Kimmeridge Coastguard were also requested to help with the incident. While the teams dealt with the casualty, there were reports another person had fallen in the area.

Over the next four hours, a total of five casualties were helped by the coastguard teams and paramedics. A sixth person was then rescued in the Durdle Door area in the early evening.

All of the casualties suffered walking-related injuries, ranging from cuts to a broken ankle, according to Lulworth Coastguard.
