A TRAINEE teacher will take on his biggest challenge to date when he attempts to run seven marathons in seven days.

Jacques Bernard will set off on Sunday from Wolverhampton and plans to complete the challenge in his home town of Bournemouth on Saturday April 20.

The event will raise money for the Steve Bernard Foundation, set up in memory of Jacques' elder brother, who died in a car crash at the age of just 18.

Steve was a fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers so the club's Molineux ground is the perfect place to start.

Jacques, 27, from Winton in Bournemouth, will be accompanied by his dad, Tony, and a physiotherapist who will take turns to cycle alongside him.

The journey has been split into 26-mile sections so Jacques can run a marathon every day.

He will run from Wolverhampton to Worcester, to Cheltenham, to Cirencester, to Marlborough, to Salisbury to Christchurch.

Jacques will run his final marathon around the Bournemouth and Poole area, finishing at Bournemouth pier.

He has been involved in many fund raising events since Steve died in 2005 and the foundation has raised a staggering £400,000.

He told the Daily Echo: "I have done marathons before and we have also done a number of cycling events.

"If you want people to support you, you have to do something more difficult so I decided to tackle seven marathons in seven days."

Jacques' original target of raising £2,000 has been broken before he has even set off so now he has raised it to £3,000.

The foundation supports good sporting causes around the world in memory of former Bournemouth School pupil Steve, who was a talented sportsman.

Olliver Construction and Strouden Joinery are main and event sponsors, OOMF is providing nutritional supplies, Star Soccer Supplies and Runderwear are donating kits and Primera and Hendy Ford are supplying vehicles.
