SAILORS were rescued by a Poole lifeboat crew after their yacht ran aground at the entrance to Wareham Channel on Monday night.
The lifeboat launched at 10.30pm to the 22ft yacht, which had two people on board.
The temperature had dropped and the sailors were cold and tired, having waited for some time for the tide to rise.
The vessel re-floated and was escorted up the Wareham Channel to its berth.
Poole Lifeboat Volunteer Helm Alex Evans said: "It was unfortunate that they got caught out, it could happen to anyone.
"With the fair weather and lighter nights, we would advise anyone that is planning a trip out on the water, to just be prepared for all eventualities."
