A DEATH Cafe event will take place at Broadstone's Cargo Lounge on Tuesday April 9 at 7.30pm.

Ellie Brooks of Wildflower Ceremonies is inviting people of all faiths and none to join in a friendly discussion about death in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The event forms part of the global Death Café movement, which aims to increase awareness of death in order to help people make the most of life.

Ellie said: "Death is the one thing that will happen to all of us, yet for so many people, particularly in Western culture, death is a taboo subject. So much so, that when people around us die, or the reality of our own mortality is brought home to us, there are very few places where we can go to explore how we feel about it.

"This is where a Death Cafe comes in. While Death Cafes don't provide grief counselling, many people who visit them find comfort in exploring the subject of death and dying in a friendly, relaxed environment with like-minded people. You’d think it might be gloomy, but it’s a fascinating way to spend an evening and can be very uplifting."

During the Death Cafe, attendees will be invited to take part in a group directed discussion of death and dying with no agenda, objectives or themes.

The Broadstone Death Cafe event is free to attend and open to all, but prompt arrival is advised to secure a seat. Refreshments will be available to buy throughout the evening.
