ARMED police were called to reports of a man who said he was in possession of a gun and had been making threats yesterday afternoon.
Officers carried out a search of the Poole area assisted by the dog section and NPAS helicopter following the call at 2.40pm.
No one was injured.
Later the same day, a 37-year-old man was arrested at an address in Coles Avenue in Hamworthy on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
He remains assisting officers with their enquiries.
An air pistol was subsequently recovered from a separate address in Poole.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are aware of the incident and can be approached with any community concerns.
