RUGBY player turned DJ James Haskell, will be hitting the decks at Bournemouth 7s this May Bank Holiday weekend. James trained last year at the SubBass Academy of Electronic Music, originally to tick DJing off his bucket list and fulfill a lifelong ambition, but has since gone on to play at festivals.

“I am really into my house music and have always used it as a tool to prepare for games,” he said. “I love going to music festivals and always wanted to be able to mix good tunes. I am also a bit of an attention seeker so the idea of controlling a room with awesome tunes that make you want to dance and feel a million dollars is a big draw.”

Rugby fans will know James for his stellar international career and for reaching the pinnacle as a British and Irish Lion (others as Richard and Judy’s son-in-law). However, James is making a name for himself on the music scene including playing superclub Ministry of Sound, launching a career playing sets within the house, deep house, funky house, tech house and techno genres.

Bournemouth 7s which takes place from May 24 –26, has become the world’s biggest sport and music festival since it launched in 2008, now attracting 30,000 people from around the world. The Jamaica 7s and Fiji national team fly over for it and the UK Army enters a team every year too.

Renowned as the sporting Glastonbury, Bournemouth 7s has established a formidable reputation over the past 11 years among sports people and festival goers alike.
