FORMER public toilets in a Bournemouth park have been leased to a rugby club to use for storage.
The facilities in Meyrick Park were closed by Bournemouth council following a review of conveniences across the borough.
In 2012 the 1930s building was converted into a storeroom which has been used by Oakmeadians Rugby Club since then.
A new five-year lease was agreed by the council’s cabinet member for housing, Cllr Bob Lawton, last week.
“The former public conveniences have been surplus to requirements for a number of years and, whilst unused, were attracting high levels of anti-social behaviour,” a council report says.
“Oakmeadians have struggled with storage for bulky items such as rugby post protectors and asked if they could use this.”
Cllr Lawton gave the lease his final sign-off on Tuesday.
