PLANS to extend and remodel a Ferndown community centre have been approved.
Members of East Dorset District Council’s planning committee unanimously backed proposals to modernise the Barrington Centre at a meeting on Wednesday.
Submitted by the council, the proposals will see the building extended at the front and rear, its interior remodelled and the nearby public toilets partly demolished.
It forms part of the Ferndown town centre strategy which backs the development of a larger café and public access to its toilets.
The new facilities will be open from 8am until 10pm but disabled and family toilets will be able to be accessed from the back of the building with a Radar Key.
The application was unanimously approved by councillors on Wednesday.
