THE proposed demolition of an "attractive" former care home has been recommended for approval.
Last year council officers expressed concern about the scheme to demolish the former Crosby Lodge in Fitzharris Avenue, Charminster, and build a block of five flats and two houses.
In their report, officers said the proposed replacement was "bland and of poor design" with "no high quality distinctive elements that would justify it".
Officers also praised the "attractive and locally distinctive" existing building.
However, the revised scheme to again demolish the building and put up a three storey block of five flats and a single house has been recommended for approval. A new report by planning officer Tom Hubbard again refers to the block as "bland", however states the scheme would not "overall" have a negative impact on the area.
The scheme will be discussed by the planning board on Monday, March 18.
