TRAIN services were halted this morning between Bournemouth and Southampton Central following a crash on a level crossing near Brockenhurst.
Two cars, a Land Rover and a Vauxhall, crashed on the crossing, blocking both the A337 and the railway line.
The crash occurred at around 5.45am.
The Land Rover went down the railway line and collided with an electrical box.
Power on the line was switched off following the crash, to allow the vehicles to be recovered at around 7.30am.
Both cars have now been moved and the road is now clear.
Train services between Southampton Central and Bournemouth, as well as the Lymington branch line, were blocked.
All lines have since been reopened.
However, disruption is expected until 2pm today.
A spokesperson said: "Network Rail have been working hard to reopen the crossing, and normal working has resumed.
"As the line was blocked for a considerable amount of time many services have been affected and crew / stock are in the wrong place. We will still need to make interventions to manage the service."
Cross Country train services are also being affected.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.49am to a two vehicle collision on Lymington Road, leaving one vehicle on the crossing.
"One minor injury was sustained. All vehicles were recovered by 7.30am."
