BOURNEMOUTH’S driving test centre has been closed due to flooding, affecting more than 160 learner drivers.
The centre in Gillam Road suffered flooding on February 8 caused by rain water collecting on the ceiling.
A total of 166 practical driving tests had to be transferred from Bournemouth to Poole driving test centre, based in Harwell Road, between Friday, February 8, and Wednesday, February 13.
The full extent of damage is not yet known as the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency said they were waiting on a report while an investigation into the flooding is carried out.
Mark Winn, chief driving examiner at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, said: “Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is committed to helping everyone through a lifetime of safe driving.”
“Bournemouth driving test centre has closed temporarily due to flooding.
“We are waiting an inspection report to the water damage problem at Bournemouth but will continue to provide testing from nearby Poole.”
He added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide an update as soon as we are able.”
