NINE more overnight lodges have been installed at Bournemouth beach following 'huge demand' in the first year of operation.

There are now 24 beach lodges at Manor Steps, between Boscombe Pier and Southbourne, sleeping up to four adults and two children each.

Prices range from £275 for a four-night, mid-week stay in March to £2,025 for a 10-night stay in August.

The new lodges will be ready for Easter when the three-night bank holiday weekend will cost £675.

The beach lodges are nestled in cliffs just feet from the sand around half-a-mile east of Boscombe Pier.

They can be reached on foot or by using the seafront land train.

An extra lodge has been added to be used as an office.

Each lodge has its own hot shower, toilet, kitchenette with electric hob, fridge and microwave. It also has private decking and WiFi.

Cllr John Beesley, Bournemouth council leader, was on hand to see the final lodges craned into place.

Cllr Beesley said: “Investing in additional beach lodges is an opportunity for Bournemouth council to generate revenue, whilst providing more of what has proved to be an immensely popular getaway destination.

"Residents and visitors to Bournemouth are enjoying this innovative offer.”
