LOVED-up people in the south west are among the most generous gifters on Valentine’s Day.

According to research by flower and gift delivery service, Bloom & Wild, romantics in the south west spend an average of £41.65 on their loved ones.

Lavish residents in the north-west are the biggest spenders splashing out a whopping £136 on average, followed by London where people spend £129 on their partner.

The South West is the third most romantic region.

The UK’s average Valentine’s Day spend is £52.00

Yorkshire came bottom out of the list with people spending just £16.36 on gifts.

Almost a third of those surveyed said they have forgotten to buy their loved-one something special for February 14, with the worst offenders being 25 to 34-year-olds.

Being surprised with a home-cooked meal or bunch of flowers is top of our favourite surprises followed by just being able to spend time with our partners.
