TANDEM skydiving, a Mallorcan cycle challenge and the Bournemouth Marathon Festival are just some of the events fundraisers are being urged to take on during 2019.

Julia's House children's hospice is inviting people to sign up for one of a number of its events to raise vital funds for its work supporting children with life-limiting conditions in Dorset and Wiltshire.

The fundraising season begins on June 8 with the Jurassic Coast Trek, a 13 or 26-mile hike, followed by a complimentary hog roast and glass of Prosecco.

Those with a head for heights are being urged to sign up for The Big Jump on August 3, with a 13,000ft tandem skydive at the Army Parachute Association near Salisbury.

New for 2018 is the four-day Mallorca Cycle Challenge tackling the island's iconic Sa Colbara, Puig Major and Cap de Formentor. A free event information evening takes place at the Corfe Mullen hospice on February 26.

There is also an opportunity to get on your bike closer to home with The Big Ride on September 22, starting from Larmer Tree Gardens on the Dorset/Wiltshire border with a choice of a 50 or 100-mile circular route.

If running is more your style, sign up to the Bournemouth Marathon Festival on October 5 and 6 for something suitable for all levels of fitness, from the full marathon to a Kids' K.

Hannah Miller, challenge events manager for Julia’s House, said: “By signing up to one of our 2019 Challenge events you can make a big difference to the lives of local, life-limited children and their families.

“We rely on events like this to help us throw a lifeline to mums and dads facing their own enormous challenges every day.”
