POLICE have chosen not to take any action against a man who was seen walking through a forest in Purbeck wearing nothing but a purple Santa hat, rucksack and shoes.
A local woman aged in her 50s reported the naked man after walking past him in Rempstone Forest, near Corfe Castle on Friday, January 4.
He said hello as they passed each other at around 4.15pm.
A second woman also reported that she had seen the naked man in the same area on the same day.
The first woman reported the encounter to Dorset Police, which issued an appeal to find the man.
On Tuesday, Police Sergeant Carmel Ryan said: “Following our media appeal the man involved has contacted Dorset Police and has been spoken to. I am now confident that no offences were committed. The man and women involved have been updated.”
It is not an offence to be naked in public in England and Wales, unless it can be proved by the complainant that the person had an intention to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
