A MAN charged with murder following the death of a Parkstone man in his 80s will face a trial this summer.

Matthew Locks, 26 and of Ashley Road in Poole, was initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after 82-year-old Charles Roy Taylor suffered a head injury at his home in Phyldon Close on the night of December 17.

Mr Taylor, who was known to friends as 'Nobby', died in hospital at 6.30pm on Tuesday, January 1, 15 days after the incident.

As a result, police launched a murder investigation. Locks, who is also known as Matthew Hawkesworth, was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty at Winchester Crown Court this month.

He has not yet entered a plea to GBH.

The defendant was known to Mr Taylor.

A trial is due to take place at the same court in June.

Anyone with information about the incident who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55180202137.
