A NEW support centre is now open to offer a unique service for people who are dealing with or have experienced breast cancer.

Going for Bust is providing aid to people with heavily subsidised wig and specialised post-treatment bra fitting.

The support centre in The Square above Barclays Bank in Wimborne follows on from the charity’s expansion to 12 shops in Dorset and Hampshire.

Money raised provides funds to back hospitals, breast cancer centres and support groups.

The new services offered by the Going for Bust team are available at a reduced price with a recommended donation for wig and bra fitting.

Anyone who wants to make use of the centre can meet the team between 10am and 4pm Monday to Thursday for a coffee and a consultation before choosing a wig, if required, being supplied a bra or gaining advice.

The charity is overseen by the board of trustees, Hannah Tointon, Nigel Slater and Stuart Jupe, alongside financial director Paul Martin.

Michelle Ormston and Jackie Matthews have qualified to provide the wig fitting.

“The support centre and the services it can offer will make a huge difference to people’s lives,” Ms Ormston said.

Ms Tointon added: “Going to hospital can be quite a clinical experience.

“We ask for donations at a substantially reduced price, which makes it affordable for people.”

The idea for providing the services at the support centre came from talking people who came into the charity’s shops.

The team said no similar support centre currently exists across Dorset.

A pamper and relaxation treatment area is in the pipeline at the centre.

Donations for the charity are gratefully received at any of their stores. To find out more about the support centre contact 01202 889258 or gfb-sc@outlook.com.
