VANDALS targeted beach huts for the second time in three weeks - but stole nothing but sweets and a Pot Noodle.

Around 20 huts were damaged in the Branksome Dene Chine area at the weekend. Most sustained smashed windows.

It comes after some 30 huts at nearby Branksome Chine were damaged on Christmas Eve.

Although many of the huts contained valuable items, nothing was taken.

Police are calling for help to trace those responsible for the damage, which was reported at 12.30pm on Sunday.

The latest spree of vandalism took place between 4pm on Saturday, January 12 and 9am the following day.

The owner of one of the huts told the Daily Echo that a Pot Noodle and some sweets were all that was taken.

As reported during the last spate of damage, Wendy Phelps, who has a hut in Branksome Chine, said more security is needed.

"The hut has been completely ransacked. It's awful," she said.

"Walking from Bournemouth the other day, when we got to Poole we noticed there is no lighting here at all - it is pitch black with no CCTV cameras.

"We pay £2,500 a year for these huts. A bit of security would be nice.

"They haven't stolen anything either.

"We think it is druggies."
