In a story published in the Daily Echo on Friday December 7, we wrote about the verbal disciplining of pupils at Poole Grammar School by their teacher Mr James Randall over what we described as ‘a minor incident’.

Mr Randall has fairly asked us to point that the breaches of discipline by a number of students were extremely serious. The breaches therefore required a serious and firm response, an approach fully supported and endorsed by his colleagues and the headteacher.

It was also entirely consistent with Poole Grammar School Behaviour Management Guidance.

We have also been asked to make it clear that the students involved are aged 15, rather than 13 and 14 as reported.

The Daily Echo is also very happy to acknowledge that the overwhelming majority of those who commented on our website and in emails, including many parents, were entirely supportive of Mr Randall’s actions and general approach.
