EMERGENCY services closed a road near Bournemouth Airport on Tuesday evening, to deal with a reported medical incident.
The air ambulance landed and Parley Lane was closed in both directions from late afternoon into the evening rush-hour.
The Echo understands the incident involved a cyclist.
However, exact details of what had taken place remained unconfirmed by Dorset Police.
Parley Lane was shut with traffic queuing from Hurn Court Lane to the Avon Causeway.
Lengthy traffic queues built up throughout the area.
Initially police vehicles cordoned off the road at Hurn roundabout, and motorists were being turned away from the area.
Some residents were allowed to travel through the road block.
The incident happened at the entrance to the airport.
A Dorset Police spokesman confirmed officers had been called to a "medical incident."
The spokesman said: "We were called just after 4.50pm by the ambulance service.
"The air ambulance has landed."
