Purbeck students raise £700 for charity in one morning

Sixth formers at The Purbeck School visited Wareham high street to collect money for Purbeck Youth and Community Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Charity prefect Daniel Bolar said the students had been “overwhelmed” by the generosity of the public.

He said: “In particular we would like to thank the Purbeck School students and their parents, the staff at M J White and the officers and councillors of Purbeck District Council who helped us to beat last year’s fundraising target.”

The students also took part in a festive fancy dress competition, a University Challenge quiz and and a ‘Purbeck Bake Off’ competition.

The students managed to raise a staggering £700 in total for the charities.

Debs Rayner, head of sixth form at The Purbeck School, said: “It is brilliant to see our sixth formers having so much fun and raising a significant amount of money for charity.”
