A WALK held in memory of a woman who died just four months after being diagnosed with cancer has raised £1,700 for charity.

Lynsey Ward from Poole organised the walk on October 14 to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity after losing her mum Sandra to a brain tumour.

Sandra had four children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Participants donned red T-shirts for the 10k walk to raise awareness of the charity for which Lynsey is a community ambassador.

Lynsey said: “The rain held off long enough for 61 friends, family and new friends to walk 10k. We started at Sandbanks beach all the way to Bournemouth Pier and back.

“All age ranges and abilities pulled on their charity T-shirts and walking shoes and raised an incredible amount of money.”

Around £250 can cover the cost of a day's research for one of the charity’s leading brain tumour researchers.

Lynsey added: “I am so thankful for all donations and encouragement we received on the day too. Lovely to see members of the public getting behind us and supporting us.“
