CARS and buildings were covered with silver and grey spray paint during a graffiti rampage in Hamworthy on Sunday night.

Three buildings and 15 vehicles were tagged with the word bomb' and signed with the letters TMC in the Turlin Moor area.

Windows, bonnets and number-plates of vehicles in the vicinity of Patchins Road, Sandy Lane and Blandford Road were sprayed.

Turlin Moor Post Office, Coral betting shop on Blandford Road and another commercial property on Blandford Road were also affected.

Acting Sergeant Andy Jenkins, of Poole police, said: "All it needs is for one or two individuals to go on a spree like this and it causes considerable unrest which is disproportionate to their actions."

Ken Richards, manager of the Turlin Moor Post Office, said attacks like this were now the exception rather than the rule in the area.

He said: "It is very rare and it has been a lot better over the last few years.

"I just hope the police can do something about it to nip it in the bud."

Some of the victims of the graffiti have struggled to wash the spray paint from their vehicles.

Officers have been gathering forensic evidence and examining CCTV from the area to try and establish an accurate timeframe of events.

Police have also carried out house-to-house enquiries and searched the area after the first reports came in just after 9.30pm on Sunday.

Dorset Police are asking witnesses and anyone with information to call 01202 222222 or the free Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
