DORSET & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) has released some top tips to keep your family safe over the festive season.
These include:
1) Checking Christmas lights are in good working order and ensuring they confirm to the British Safety Standard
2) Always remembering to switch Christmas lights off when going to sleep
3) Never placing candles near the Christmas tree, decorations or furnishings
4) Never leaving your Christmas cooking unattended.
DWFRS safe and well manager Vikki Thomas said: "We continue to see too many fires both locally and nationally during the Christmas period.
"With so many things to think about during the holidays, it is all too easy to overlook fire safety but it should be at the top of the list."
