THIS is a note to express our disappointment in response to Jane Reader’s article concerning the “rant” by Poole Grammar School teacher James Randall.
Having had two children at Poole Grammar School, we can’t speak highly enough of the teaching staff and the head teacher, Andy Baker. Mr Randall, in particular, has gone way beyond the proverbial extra mile on numerous occasions. His dedication and commitment are a credit to his profession. The school as a whole, throughout our dealings with them over the past eight years, have always handled any difficulties or challenges raised with impeccable professionalism, promptness, empathy and pragmatism.
It’s very sad that it was felt appropriate to sensationalise this matter rather than for the parents to take it up with the school. Notwithstanding all of this, of course, is the question: Wwhat was the student doing using his mobile phone in class in the first place?
