THE air ambulance was called to Sandbanks beach this afternoon.
The incident was initially reported at 3.15pm to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, which then called for the assistance of police, ambulance and the RNLI.
Two lifeboats were sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said they received a concern for welfare call from the coastguard.
The male casualty is now "safe with crews", the spokesperson said.
The Daily Echo is awaiting further details from the coastguard, RNLI and ambulance service.
